Most of the stress in an admissions year comes from deadlines that arrive sooner than expected. This calendar puts them all in one place.
Spring of Year 12
Build the shortlist, book admissions tests and plan university visits. This is the best time to read widely around the subject.
Summer
Draft the personal statement and the first US essays slowly. Register for UCAS and the Common App.
Autumn of Year 13
Oxford, Cambridge and medicine applications close in mid October. US early deadlines fall on 1 November. Everything else follows by late January.
Winter and spring
Interviews run from December to March. Offers and decisions arrive through the spring, with US replies due by 1 May.
